Grandmas chalkware rooster

7 days ago   |   By Barbara Pask

Hi Friends! This was painted from life looking at a set up of this old rooster that belonged to my grandmother. This is oil on a linen panel, I find I prefer the hard surface to paint on. This was painted for an event in September, I have others in the works. Painting outside Saturday in a plein air competition, hope I can handle the heat, whew! Stay cool!

Hi there! I just completed this, painted from life looking at a very old chalkware rooster that belonged to my grandmother. This is oil on a 8” x 10” linen panel. I find I prefer the harder surface to work on, I did palette knife on the background and thought that worked well. This will be in a show in September and I'm working on a few others. I've painted outside some but it's hot hot hot here, actually this Saturday I am in a plein air competition so I hope I hold up ok. Stay cool!
