JONATHAN P. SYLTIE

2 monthes ago   |   By Camplin Art

Jonathan P. Syltie combines painted image with assemblage to create a hybrid form of sculpture/image. Some of his painted surfaces hint to a style that resembles woodcut printmaking. Others he renders more realistically. His furniture pieces also are painted in energic colors. His dismemberment of objects and images are assembled together to create a kind of new monster that inhabits our space. His humorous and grotesque objects assault us with the wild and strange. But taken in their individual parts, oddly familiar.
